The conference Women in Science organized by us was held in Lodz on 29^th-30^th September

Conference was organized by Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Republic of Poland, Lodz University of Technology and Polish Fulbright Alumini Association and was  dedicated to discussion about the participation and success of women in a variety of research areas.

Statistical data show that although women represent half of the people who gain doctoral degrees in science and engineering, they represent only one-fifth of full professors. Women face obstacles in overcoming successive stages of career e.g.: stereotyping, discrimination in invitation to sit on the scientific advisory boards, boards  of start-up companies, boards of technological parks,  high positions in academic institutions and universities, discrimination in  invitation to  scientific conferences as the keynote speakers. In recent years many programs to support women and to promote their achievements were created by a. o. Rita Levi-Montalcini Foundation, Christiane Nüsslein Volhard Foundation, Robert Bosh Foundation (creators of AcademiaNet.info) etc. but there are still a lot to be changed.
