Research Interest:

  • Synthesis of polymeric nanogels by radiation-induced intramolecular crosslinking,
  • Nanogels of stimuli-sensitive polymers and their properties,
  • Radiation-induced reactions of synthetic polyelectrolytes and other water-soluble polymers (co-operation with prof. Clemens von Sonntag, Max-Planck-Institute of Radiation Chemistry, Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany and Institute of Surface Modification, Leipzig, Germany),
  • Sonochemistry of polymers in aqueous solution,
  • Mechanism of radical reactions in solution as studied by kinetic methods, product analysis and simulation (in co-operation with prof. Jeremiasz K. Jeszka, Center of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Science),
  • Application of radiation-chemical and sonochemical techniques for regulating the molecular weight of chitosan (with Dr. Anna Wojtasz-Pajak, Sea Fisheries Institute, Gdynia, Poland),
  • Hydrogels for biomedical purposes (in co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna),
  • Radiation-based synthesis of thermoresponsive hydrogels based on Pluronic copolymers (in co-operation with prof. Alan T. Hatton and dr Lev Bromberg, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S.A.),
  • Synthesis and sterilization of new, porous polymeric scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration (in co-operation with prof. Małgorzata Lewandowska-Szumiel, Medical University of Warsaw, Poland).
