Research topics:
- The triangle: carotenoids-retinoids-cytochromes plays a key role in development and progress of cancer
- The application of Raman imaging and spectroscopy in lipidomic, proteomic, and epigenetic studies of normal and cancerous tissues and cells in the human brain, breast gland, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract, under both normal and oxidative stress conditions.
- Studying the nanomechanical properties of human tissues and cells using AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and AFM-nano-IR techniques.
- The application of fluorescence spectroscopy in studying the structure and metabolic pathways of human cells, and spectroscopic analysis of cell viability.
- Femtosecond dynamics of molecular photoswitches from the diarylethene group.
Our PhD student, MSc Eng. Karolina Jarczewska, was awarded at the European Conference on the Spectroscopy of Biological Molecules 2024 (ECSBM2024), Lodz, 1-5 September 2024. Karolina received the 1st prize for her poster titled "Should I eat algae? The impact of fucoxanthin on astrocytoma cells" and the 2nd prize for her oral presentation titled "The impact of xanthophylls on brain and breast cancer development."
Stanford University has published the names of the top 2% of scientists in the world whose publications are most frequently cited by other authors. Among them was prof.dr hab. Halina Abramczyk from the Lodz University of Technology: link
On September 22, 2024, Prof. Halina Abramczyk delivered a presentation titled "A new modality for fertility and cancer tracking – Raman imaging, fluorescence and AFM studies combined with AI analysis" at the XVII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MOLECULAR SPECTROSCOPY, held from September 22 to 25, 2024, in Wojanów, Poland.https://icms.intibs.pl/
