Research topics:
- The triangle: carotenoids-retinoids-cytochromes plays a key role in development and progress of cancer
- The application of Raman imaging and spectroscopy in lipidomic, proteomic, and epigenetic studies of normal and cancerous tissues and cells in the human brain, breast gland, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract, under both normal and oxidative stress conditions.
- Studying the nanomechanical properties of human tissues and cells using AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and AFM-nano-IR techniques.
- The application of fluorescence spectroscopy in studying the structure and metabolic pathways of human cells, and spectroscopic analysis of cell viability.
- Femtosecond dynamics of molecular photoswitches from the diarylethene group.
Dr. hab. Beata Brożek-Płuska, Prof. PŁ delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Exploring the Effects of Different Therapeutic Agents in Colon Cells Using Integrated Raman Imaging, AFM and Femtosecond Laser Spectroscopy” at the 4th International Summit on Laser Optics and Photonics (ISLOP2026), held in Madrid, Spain, on 25–27 May 2026.
This distinction recognizes her commitment to science communication, her passion for sharing knowledge, and her efforts to inspire young people to explore science. The award acknowledges her scientific and educational activities carried out not only at our University, but also throughout the region and beyond.
We appreciate her long-standing contribution to educating and supporting successive generations of students, as well as her engagement in promoting science among a wider audience.
We congratulate her on this achievement and wish her continued success in her scientific and educational activities.
